Wellness Gallery, a Catalyst Foundation project, teamed up with the South Australian community to develop a new inclusive, age-positive image gallery resource (presented below), using submissions from the Photography Competition and photos taken during the professional structured photoshoots.
The image gallery provides access to ‘stock’ images, for individuals and organisations to access and use royalty-free in their marketing and communications. The Wellness Gallery resource provides a positive alternative to stereotypical and/or negative images currently used so often.
All the high quality photos are available for free via this page on our website, and select photos are also available via a free stock resource website - Pexels. Images have been de-identified to maintain individual's privacy.
How to Download?

Considerations when using Wellness Gallery photos
Context and Assumptions: When selecting imagery for use in communications and marketing, think about the context and what your photo is being used to portray. Be careful to not dehumanise or make insinuations with your choice of image, when accompanying a news piece or blog.
Focal Point and Equality: Older people contribute to society in a huge range of ways, so photography should depict them as valuable, respected equals and important members of society. The older person should be in the forefront of the pictures (i.e. the older person is the focal point of the image or the focal points are equally on both the older and younger subjects of the image).
Crediting Photographers: Photographers understandably take pride in their art. It is important to remember to credit the photographer of any image you use in your marketing, as you would if you put a painting up in a museum. This is respectful to the photographer and acknowledges where you found the image. Put the photographer's name, website or instagram somewhere on the page or in the social media caption. Wellness Gallery photos donated by professional or student photographers have been given credit on the individual image captions below. Please remember to give credit to the Wellness Gallery photographers, where named and possible. All other images can be credited to 'Catalyst Foundation', as individual's names have not been identified, to maintain privacy. If you would like to claim credit for any images below that have not been identified, please contact Wellness Gallery project officers.
Diversity: Like all age groups, people 50 and over are not all the same, so photos should depict the diverse range of people to ensure an accurate representation of the population. Consider diversity of age, gender, race and ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, geography and more. Avoid representing diversity inauthentically by resorting to stereotype and caricature.
Will more photos be added?
Absolutely! We will continue to edit and add to this gallery resource. Due to limitations including Covid restrictions and consent among vulnerable communities, we were unable to represent the wide spectrum of diversity within South Australia. We would like to continue connecting with community groups around South Australia for free photoshoots to continue to build this gallery resource over time. Please get in touch with Wellness Gallery project officers if you and your local community would like to be involved in a free photoshoot.
